In this talk, by a historical reviewing on given bounds for the exponent of the Schur multiplier of a finite p -group, we present recent developments in the subject. Also, we give a bound for the exponent of the c -nilpotent multiplier (the generalization of the notion of the Schur multiplier to the variety of nilpotent groups of class at most c geq 1 .) of a finite p -group. Finally, we show that if G is a finite p -group of class at most p-1 , then the exponent of the Schur multiplier of G divides the exponent of G .
