Abstract

This paper proposes a “Generalized Iso-Geometrical Analysis” (GIGA) approach to deal with free vibration analysis of plane elasticity problems. The suggested approach which is a generalized form of the well-known isogeometric analysis method uses a unified modeling and analysis procedure which makes use of B-Splines and NURBS for definition of the geometry and the analysis as well. The plane stress state is considered and the weak forms of the governing partial differential equations of dynamic analysis are developed by using a weighted residual approach. A numerical example is solved to investigate the performance of the proposed method in this type of field problems. Comparison of the obtained results with the FEM solution and some other available numerical methods, demonstrates the high performance and accuracy of the present method.
