Abstract

Inorganic elements are essential for growth and development of the plants grown either in vivo or in vitro. During in vitro differentiation, the minerals are absorbed from the basal medium and used during cell proliferation and differentiation. Adventitious rooting of proliferating shoots is one of in vitro physiological process controlled by many physical and chemical factors including mineral nutrition. The present study was aimed to evaluate the comparative studies on most macro and microelements (Ca, K, Mg, Na, Fe, Cu, Mn, and Zn) of two micropropagated axillary shoots of Juglans regia cultivars ‘Howard’ and ‘Sunland’ during the main stages of adventitious root differentiating. Result shows that ‘Howard’ and ‘Sunland’ cultivars have different capacity to root (P≤0.05, 37% vs. 85%). The mineral result indicated that Calcium, Potassium and Sodium are the main elements that may influence different phases of rooting (in particular its \\\'induction\\\' and \\\'initiation\\\' phases). It would be deduced that there are inter relationships among mineral nutrients, their concentration range, root system morphology, root development and finally, root capacity.
