Abstract

The major purpose of this study was to develop the Translation Teacher Competency Test (TTCT) and examine its construct validity. To this end, based on the guidelines laid down by international eminent scholars in the field of academic translation teaching, the test was designed. Afterwards, four local translation teachers were asked to take part in the interview sessions. The construct validity of the test was qualitatively substantiated by the model generated by NVivo. According to the model 4 major themes emerged. Two of them were free constructs: teaching skills and content knowledge, while the other two were tree constructs which were linked to other related themes: methodology and translation competence. Finally, the results were discussed in the context of translation studies.
