Abstract

Now, it's time to take advantage of new techniques such as nanotechnology as a new approach for seed priming and seed germination improvement. The effect of 5 levels of carbon nanotubes (0, 10, 20, 30 and 40 mg per liter) in a randomized complete design with three replications was studied on seed germination characteristics of parsley seeds at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, 2013. The Comparison of means for parsley was shown that concentration of 10 ppm was better on the most of traits, especially on germination percentage, root length, seedling dry weight than to the other concentrations. The lowest of germination percentage rate, seedling fresh and dry weight, shoot and root length was obtained in application of 40 ppm, thus, it seems that this concentration lead to toxicity. The results are said to be increasing carbon nanotube concentration of 20 mg/l in most cases will lead to improvement Germination but not recommended concentration greater than that due to toxicity crafted to among concentration of 10 mg/l is used to improve the germination of seeds of parsley is recommended. About pepper The highest germination percentage and rate, seedling fresh and dry weight, shoot and root length was observed at concentration of 20 ppm. Mean germination time and germination index was better in concentrations of 20 and 30 ppm as compared to the other concentrations. There was no significant improvement in germination traits in the application of higher (40ppm) and lower (10ppm) concentrations of carbon nanotubes. The most effective concentration was 20ppm, because an increasing over 4/83, 43/47, 27/75, 23/07, 20, 23/03 and 38/45 % in germination percentage, germination rate, germination index, seedling fresh and dry weight, shoot length and root length, respectively, as compared to the control (0 ppm).
