Abstract

In this study, aluminum matrix nano composite reinforced with silicon dioxide nano particles (SiO2) was fabricated using ultrasonic technique. Then Al-0.5 wt. % nano composite foam fabricated by direct foaming technique using 1 wt.% and 2 wt.% TiH2 foaming agent (Untreated and per-treated in 450 ᵒC for 3 hours in air). Micro structural analyses were done by optical and scanning electron microscope to ensure the production of nano composite foam. The results of microscopic evaluation showed the polyhedral structure of cells and appropriate distribution of nano particles in the cell walls. Also according to the TGA results and micro structural evaluations it is observed by using 1wt% of pre-treated TiH2, not only foam height become greater but also uniformity of the foam structure will improve.
