Abstract

In recent years, applying photocatalysts has attracted increasing attention as a green technology to decompose pharmaceutical contaminates. In this work, we have attempted to synthesis a novel visible-light driven Ag/AgBr/graphene oxide (GO) nano composite via a facile a fast ultrasonic method as we spent 1/6 of required time for classic method. Also, sun light irradiation was applied to produced Ag nanoparticles on AgBr surface instead of using UV lamp irradiation. The Ag/AgBr/GO nanocomposite was characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM, DRS and Raman spectra. The photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared nano composite was evaluated by using Diclofenac sodium (Dic) as pharmaceutical pollutant. The nano composite exhibit excellent photocatalytic activity for Dic, So that in a short period of time nanocomposite could degrade the Dic. Compared with Ag/AgBr particles the Ag/AgBr/GO nanocomposite showed better photocatalytic activity because of high specific surface area and good charge transfer of graphene oxide. Furthermore, the effect of parameters such as the amount of catalyst and initial pH of the pharmaceutical pollutant was investigated on the removal efficiency of diclofenac sodium. The kinetic of photocatalytic degradation were studied under different conditions. Additionally, the scavengers experiment was carried out and a photocatalytic mechanism of Ag/AgBr/GO was also proposed. As a conclusion we could claimed in this work synthesis of visible-light driven Ag/AgBr/GO nanocomposite was successfully done in a facile way with sorter time and better photocatalytic activity for diclofenac sodium degradation.
