Abstract
Reviewing some historical views of the Cauchy--Schwarz (C-S) inequality and giving some general facts on operator inequalities, we present some C-S type inequalities for Hilbert space operators and present some generalizations of this known inequality. In addition, we obtain some C-S type inequalities in the setting of Hilbert $C^*$-modules extending some results of \cite{3}. Further, we show some reverses of the C-S inequality for real numbers and operators.
