Abstract

This paper proposes multi-criteria optimization method for finding optimal number, places and sizes of FCL simultaneously to decrease short circuit currents under allowable values of protective devices. In fact this paper takes the tradeoff between minimization of operation time of overcurrent relays, minimization of FCL's impedance amplitude and reset to zero of the number of mis-coordination of overcurrent relays in the network. Sensitivity analysis is performed to reduce the searching space for optimal placement and optimal sizing multi-criteria of the FCL. Optimal number, size of impedance and optimal location of FCL are selected to solve the most protective problems due to usage of distributed generation in the network. Finally, the best exploitation of FCL will be obtained.
