Abstract

Evaluation the efficiency of management has been recognized as an important mechanism for both accounting on and developing protected areas management. Based on the program of work on protected areas of the Convention on Biological Diversity, all countries were asked to implement such systems. In 2011, the first assessment of park management effectiveness, based on the IUCN-WCPA Management Effectiveness Evaluation Framework, was undertaken in Khojir National Park, Iran as part of a state of the protected areas reporting requirement. This article describes the applying assessment tool and how the threats, difficulties, strengthen and weaknesses are. These include balancing quantitative and qualitative findings, achieving a comprehensive understanding of the management processes.
