Abstract

This paper discusses the new feed in tariff plan and its effect on grid connected photovoltaic systems in Iran. The well legislated new scheme in 2015 and its remarks, is explained in details. The economic perspective is evaluated through determining the economic indices, including net present value, internal rate of return and payback period time. The maintenance and repair costs as well as the yearly PV cell degradation factor in output power, are considered in the analysis to increase the reliability of the results. Moreover, the potential of solar energy along the country is investigated through the PVsyst simulation. The outcomes show returning of the investment in less than 4 years with more than 35% internal rate of return for most provinces. Moreover, more than 70% of the system net present benefit will achieve in the first decade, which makes it more attractive. This results in the high installation rate of the power plant and residential systems after approval. The study performed for tracking structures reveals profit increase regarding the higher energy production level. It is suggested this effective scheme can be implemented in Middle East countries with the same meteorological pattern.
