In this work, we investigate the optimal control of a continuous stirred tank reactor. the present problem, by substituting the control variable by its expression derived from the system model in the performance index, is first converted into a variational problem and then its solution is achieved by satisfying Euler_Lagrange equation. Finally, the parametric iteration method is applied to solve the resulting the Euler_Lagrange equation and the optimal control law is readily obtained by simple calculation.
