Abstract

Compounds with phosphorus-containing structures are an important part of chemistry, because of their applications in medicine, fertilizers, pesticides and plant growth regulators. A new phosphorylamidate ligand with formula C28H32N4O3P2 [(C6H4(2-CH3)NH)2P(O)(O)(O)P(NH(C6H4(2- CH3)))2] has been synthesized and characterized by 1H, 13C and 31P{1H} NMR, IR and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Single crystal X-ray analysis shows that it belongs to monoclinic system, space group P21/c, with a = 14.2621(6) Å, b = 15.7029(11) Å, c = 13.8401(8) Å, = 118.915(4)º, Z = 4. The phosphorus atoms exhibit a tetrahedral configuration and the nitrogen atoms are practically planar. The molecule exists as an extended H-bonded chain which is produced by intermolecular PO…HN hydrogen bonds.
