Abstract

This paper presents an investigation into the stability enhancement of LFC problem in one area power system using a power system stabilizer. A complete system model for lowfrequency oscillation studies should be composed of mechanical and electrical loops. So a new combined model, that is included of LFC and AVR loops to consider the mutual effects between them, is used. The simulation results show that adding a coordinative PSS to this model can improve the dynamic stability of the power system and effectively suppress the low-frequency oscillation.
