Abstract

Polyamides, or nylons, are an attractive class of engineering polymers due to their excellent strength and stiffness, low friction and chemical and wear resistance.This study is focused on the role of ethylene propylene ruber on the fracture mechanism in PA/EPR composites. The present paper examines the fracture behaviour of Several PA/EPR composites with different amounts of ethylene propylene ruber in the experimental study . Three-point tests were carried out. The results of threepoint bending tests show that the fracture toughness of PA increases with the increase of EPR content. Looking at this in more detail via scanning electron microscopy shows that the craze propagation can be dictated by ethylene propylene ruber.simulated results were confirmed by SEM micrographs taken from the polished surface of polyamid / ethylene propylene rubber composite, which is loaded under tensile test.
