Abstract

Abstract—one of the most important challenges in ontology engineering is integration of ontologies to build a usable ontology for applications of a specific domain. Ontology matching is a solution that enables semantic interoperability between structurally and semantically heterogeneous resources on the Web. There are several ontology matching tools seeking semantic correspondences between entities belonging to different ontologies. The aim of this paper is improving ontology matching by adding the preprocessing phase for analyzing the results of naming pattern detection. We select one of the best matchers in Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative (OAEI) which is a dynamic multi-strategy ontology alignment framework, called RiMOM and add the preprocessing phase to it. In preprocessing phase, some different patterns of ontologies are detected and then refactoring rules are used for uniform ontologies. Then, refactored ontologies are used as inputs of RiMOM. Experimental result shows that these refactored ontologies are more efficient than the original ones with respect to the standard evaluation measurements.
