Researchers try to increase heat transfer coefficient to decrease operation costs. Among different kind of fluids, Non-Newtonian fluids have an important role in industry because of their properties; for example, drilling mud as a Non-Newtonian fluid is used to carry out sand and other particles to the surface of well, also for cooling the drill in drilling operation. So, increasing heat transfer coefficient of this Non-Newtonian fluid can increase performance of drilling. In this paper effect of adding TiO2, Al2O3 and CuO as nano particles in different concentration on convective heat transfer coefficient of drilling mud, a Herschel Bulkely fluid, is experimentally investigated. Finally, it is concluded that adding these nano particles increases heat transfer coefficient of Non Newtonian fluid by change in rheological property of base fluid.
