Abstract

The inclusion complex of Lidocaine (LD) and hydroxypropyl-ß-cyclodextrin (HPßCD) has been investigated in aqueous solution and in the solid state. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) gave evidence for the formation of the complex. The details of LD/HPßCD molecular interaction were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.The results suggest that the small molecule of lidocaine is completely entered in the HPßCD ring.The phase solubility studies indicate that the complex is formed with possible stoichiometry of 1:1 and association constant of 38.9 M-1.
