Abstract

In thiswork,ThemagnetoelasticpropertiesofpolycrystallinesamplesofTb3 (Fe28xCox) V1.0 (x¼0, 3,6) intermetalliccompoundsareinvestigatedbymeansoflinearthermalexpansionandmagnetostriction measurementsinthetemperaturerangeof77–515Kunderappliedmagneticfieldsupto1.5T. The linearthermalexpansionincreaseswiththeCocontent.Thewell-definedanomaliesobservedin the linearthermalexpansioncoefficientsforTb3 (Fe28xCox) V1.0 (x¼0, 3,6)compoundsareassociated with themagneticorderingtemperaturefor x¼0 andspinreorientationtemperaturesfor x¼3, 6.Below transitiontemperatures,thevalueofthelongitudinalmagnetostriction(lPa) at1.6Tincreaseswith Co content.
