Abstract
Life table parameters and population growth of Aphis fabae Scopoli (Hemiptera: Aphididae) were investigated in relation to different N:K fertilization ratios (40:60, 40:40, 40:0 kg/ha and control 0:0) on bean Phaseolus vulgaris L. under greenhouse conditions.The results showed that some plant variables, such as plant nitrogen and water content, photosynthesis rate and total plant dry weight were significantly increased in plant treated with only nitrogen fertilization (40:0). The aphids developing on plants fertilized with only nitrogen fertilization had the shortest nymphal developmental time and produced more number of offspring. However, aphid adult longevity weren’t affected by N:K fertilization ratios. Aphid’s intrinsic rate of increase (rm) as well as the other parameters of age-specific fertility life table positively correlated with enhancing N:K ratio content in bean plants. Additionally, aphid abundance and population growth rate (r) were enhanced by increasing plant’s N:K ratio content. Nevertheless, performance and population rate of A.fabae significantly declined in plants fertilized with the lowest N:K ratio (
