The aim of this study is synthesis a nanocarrier for transporting the fatty acids of pumpkin seed oil. Pumpkin seed oil is an effective natural oil which is applied in the treatment of prostate cancer. It contains oleic acid, linoleic acid and palmitic acid. The fatty acid of this oil is effective for cancer therapy. To deliver this oil in the body, magnetic iron oxide nanoparticle (Fe3O4 NP) can be used. In this study, Fe3O4 nanoparticles were synthesized by co-precipitation method and fatty acids loaded on NP by hydrothermal method at the temperature of 120 °C in a solution with a certain concentration of saponifiable compound. Fatty acids of the pumpkin seed oil was simultaneously adsorbed on the nanoparticles surface. The adsorbed amounts of oil on the NP surface were measured using direct titration with bromophenol blue of unadsorbed fatty acids on nanoparticles. Results showed that the hydrodynamic diameter of nanoparticles was 175 nm and 55 nm after synthesis and adsorption of fatty acids, respectively which is appropriate for oral usage. The calculated amounts of loaded fatty acids on the NP are estimated as 94% of saponifiable matters that was dissolved in distilled water.
