Abstract
This letter presents an algorithm for supersampling of rays in order to accurately calculate physical optics scattering from parametric surfaces. Based on the differential geometry cal- culus, the algorithm adaptively adjusts the ray resolution after each ray-object intersection. This way, the curvature of the surface and the resulting divergence of the wavefront are properly taken into account. Consequently, the ray-tracing method can accurately determine the illuminated region on the object surface. The sim- ulation results show the effectiveness of the presented algorithm in improving the accuracy of radar cross section calculation while retaining the computational efficiency.
