Abstract
In this paper, we provide new characterizations of the matrix classes P, W and R0. By using these new characterizations, some well-known results related to P, W and R0-matrices are improved. In 1987, Jeter and Pye proved that if a W-matrix belongs to the class R0, then all of its principle minors are nonnegative, namely W∩ R0 ⊂ P0. We present a more precise version of this result. In fact, we prove that W ∩ R0 = P.
