Abstract

Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L) is one of the most popular and traditional ornamental fowers worldwide. It is an herbaceous plant of the Caryophyllaceae family native to the Mediterranean region (Lisa, V. 1995) [2]. Several viruses in the families Potyviridae, Caulimoviridae, Closteroviridae, Betafexiviridae, Tombusviridae and Bromoviridae infect this cut fower, reducing its quality and yield (Wolcan et al. 2016) [3]. Carnation cryptic virus 3 (CCV3) is a putative Deltapartitivirus of the Partitiviridae family with two monocistronic dsRNA segments containing the dsRNA1 coding of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) and the dsRNA2 coding of capsid protein (CP) (An, H., et al. 2017). To date, this virus has been reported from D. caryophyllus, D. chinensis and D. amurensis [1].
