Abstract

In this work, the La1-xSrxNiO3 perovskites (x = 0, 0.3, 0.5) were prepared by the precipitation procedure and subjected to comprehensive characterization with XRD, N2 adsorption-desorption, FESEM, CO2-TPD, O2-TPD, FTIR, XPS, and H2-TPR techniques. Then, the catalytic activity of La1-xSrxNiO3 perovskites in CO and C3H6 oxidation reactions was evaluated. The TPR results showed that the activation energy of La1-xSrxNiO3 perovskites decreased with increasing Sr loading, indicating that Sr doping causes an increase in the reduction of LaNiO3 perovskite, leading to an enhancement in the catalytic oxidation. The CO2-TPD results showed that the basicity of Sr-doped catalysts increased with Sr loading. Textural properties, morphology, and basicity results of Sr-doped catalysts revealed that La0.3Sr0.7NiO3 and La0.5Sr0.5NiO3 catalysts possessed highly fractured morphologies, providing enhanced adsorption and additional active sites for CO and C3H6 adsorption. Also, the XPS results indicated that Sr doping of LaNiO3 perovskite facilitated lattice oxygen mobility, and further promoted the catalytic oxidation of CO and C3H6. Moreover, the catalytic performance showed that by substitution of La by Sr in La1-xSrxNiO3 catalysts the activation energy of CO and C3H6 oxidation was reduced, which led to facilitate the catalytic oxidation of these reactants.
