In this paper the author shows that under certain restrictions on the compact spaces X and Y , the weak topology of the Banach quotient space C(Y )/'(C(X)) is not fragmented by any metric, where ' is a continuous map from Y onto X and ':C(X)!C(Y ) is its induced injection. In particular, such a space does not admit any equivalent strictly convex norm.
