In this paper, punching shear strengthening of flat slabs using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) sheets is studied. The GFRP sheets were located at the tension side of the slabs in two perpendicular directions. Vertical load was applied downward using a hydraulic Jack. In the tests, the applied load and vertical displacement of specimens were measured. The test results showed that the use of GFRP sheet can increase the punching shear strength of slabs, significantly. The test results were compared with the equations proposed by ACI 318-05, BS 8110-85 and JSCE-86 codes, and then a new equation was proposed. It is shown that the proposed equation can predict the punching shear strength of strengthened slabs, appropriately.
