Abstract:
This chapter examines the relationship between mindfulness and control. The chapter also discusses the implications of mindfulness and mindlessness in connection with perceived control. The authors argue that mindfulness unfolds itself as the key component that gives rise to an increase of control in different interpersonal and intrapersonal domains. The chapter presents the phenomenological implications of mindfulness for choice-making and explores possible layers of mindfulness in implementing cognitive and emotional synergy in interpersonal relationships. The authors introduce mindfulness not merely as a cognitive component but also as a way of being that leads to enhancement of empowerment in sundry domains of human interaction.
