Abstract

Abstract A highly efficient, selective, and cheap protocol is developed for oxidation of a variety of aliphatic and aromatic alcohols with hydrogen peroxide utilizing simple W- and Mo-based heteropolyoxometalate catalysts in different organic solvents. Aqueous solution of H3PW12O40 and K5Na2PW11O39 showed the highest catalytic activity than other catalysts dissolved in different solvents. This methodology may prove to be valuable alternative for eco-friendly green oxidation of alcohols. Inherent simplicity, easy work up, and using re-generable catalysts were of other key aspects of this oxidation protocol.
