Abstract
Computer-aided engineering (CAE) has been used during the last forty years in the industry. Its concept, features and range of applications have been significantly changed so as nowadays its situation is an indication of the level of the technology of a company, enterprise, industry or a country. Having discussed the evolution of the meaning of CAE, this paper also outlines some applications of it in Iran industry. As a benchmark, the capability of a research center of an automotive part supplier company on using the CAE features is reviewed.
