Toxoplasmosis is an important cause of abortion and stillbirth in sheep in the worldwide. In this study, we tried to determine the role of Toxoplasma gondii in inducing abortion in sheep of Mashhad area. During the 2004 to 2007 lambing season, thoracic and abdominal fluids from 325 aborted lambs were evaluated for IgG antibody by using IFAT technique. Antibody titers equal to or greater than 1:20 against Toxoplasma gondii were detected in 17(5.2%) of body fluids of ovine fetuses. The most Toxoplasma gondii antibody titers were 1:1280. These results suggest that detection of fetal fluid IgG titer can be use a simple diagnostic test in determining toxoplasmosis abortion in sheep.
