Abstract

Entropy generation in film condensation on vertical plate with interfacial shear stress is discussed analytically. Based on fluid flow and heat transfer irreversibility, a general relation is derived for entropy generation. Using this relation the effect of interfacial shear stress and gravitational force and existence of optimum condition for each case are investigated for vertical and horizontal plates. The results are extended for inclined plate with no interfacial shear.
