Abstract

It is essential to model the Bauschinger ef-fect correctly for sheet metal forming proc-ess simulation and subsequent springback prediction when material points are sub-jected to cyclic loading conditions. For an accurate prediction of springback, the Bauschinger effect must be considered to determine accurately the internal stress dis-tribution within the sheet metal after de-formation. In this paper the influence of Bauschinger effect on springback in reverse bending process is investigated numeri-cally. Simulations are preformed for two materials, AA6111-T4 and high strength steel (HSS), while considering three differ-ent values of die radius and clearance. Re-sults show that influence of the Bausch-inger effect is highly considerable for the aluminum alloy than the HSS. Three differ-ent hardening models are utilized and influ-ence of them on springback prediction is studied. The isotropic hardening model predicts the same maximum punch load for bending and reverse bending.
