The potential energy function of methane has been detd. via the inversion of reduced viscosity collision integrals at zero pressure. A comparison of the potential with the previously detd. potentials is included. The viscosity, thermal cond., and self-diffusion coeff. of methane at different temps. and pressures have been calcd. and compared with expt. The interaction potential of methane from the inversion method has been fitted to obtain an anal. potential form
