Abstract

The identification of hybrids between closely related taxa bears relevance for studies of gene flow and the evolution of mechanisms of genetic isolation. As such it is an important phenomenon when studying speciation. Furthermore, hybridisation, or the interbreeding of species, is of pivotal importance in framing ideas about the nature of taxonomic judgments to be made about particular populations
