Title : ( Effect of Row Spacing and Plant Density on Yield and Yield Components of Soybean (Glycine max )
Authors: ALI REZA DADKHAH ,Abstract
In order to study the effects of row spacing and plant density on yield and yield components of soybean plants (Glycine max cv Williams), a field experiment was conducted at the research field of Shirvan Agricultural faculty in 2007. This experiment was carried out in a split plot design. Factor A was row spacing at three levels (30, 40 and 50 cm) and factor B was plant density (28, 34, 40 and 46 plant per square meter). The evaluated traits in this research were plant height, number of pods and seed per plant, number of seed per pod, seed yield per plant and total yield. The result showed that the height of plant and the height of first pod formation increased with increasing plant density. Plant density had a highly significant effect on number of pods and seeds per pod and seed yield per plant so that number of pods and seed number per pod and seed yield per plant declined. The highest yield was obtained in row spacing 30 cm and plant density 34 plants per square meter.
