Abstract

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a suitable candidate for broadband Power Line Communications (PLC). However, OFDM systems suffer from high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR), subcarriers synchronization. It has shown that single carrier transmision with frequency dimain equalization is an alternative technique for OFDM in broadband wireless systems. In this paper we investigate the BER performance of single carrier PLC systems employing time and frequency domain decision feedback equalization techniques, and convolution coding. The distractive factors like impulsive noise and multipath effects are taken into account. The results of our simulations are compared with OFDM systems.
