The objective of the present study was to evaluate the in vitro effect of medicinal herbs or spices on ruminal disappearance of various nutrients of alfalfa hay. Treatments were incubated in a medium containing cell (CI), cumin (CU), nutmeg (NU) or tumeric (TU) were placed in a 100 ml bottle (n=4) containing 45 ml of medium and 5 ml of mixed rumen microbes and incubated for 24 h at 38.5 ºC. Then, bottle content was concentrations of the residues were determined. Data were statistically analyzed using SAS (V. 9/1) and Duncan test was used to compare the means (P<0.05).
