Abstract

: The IEEE 802.16e standard serves as the backhaul of broadband wireless access in the emerging fourth-generation mobile networks. Deploying relay stations as defined in IEEE 802.16j enhances the coverage area and throughput of the IEEE 802.16e. In this paper, we study the problem of relay selection for a wireless cooperative network in context of IEEE 802.16j emerging standard. We propose Best relay selection method, which selects outage optimal relay station for each subchannel. We provide analytical approximations of proposed schemes performance in terms of outage probability .Both theoretical and simulation results show that the Best relay selection method can achieve significant gain compared to other relay selection methods.
