A unified framework for quantification of elastic follow-up is provided by using simplified benchmark models that ideally represent the behaviour of real structures. Closed form analytical solutions for evaluation of EFU are presented for model structures. The impact of elastic follow-up on residual stress relaxation/redistribution and hence the importance of its evaluation in integrity assessment procedures and in classification of residual stresses is highlighted.
