چکیده

Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is one of the non-traditional manufacturing techniques widely employed in die manufacturing, repairs and production of special industrial parts. There are different process parameters settings in this method, each of which influences the machining speed and specifications such as surface roughness, material removal rate, electrode wear rate, etc. The main process parameters in EMD include voltage, current, on-time (discharge time) and electrodes distance. In this paper, the mathematical relationship between process inputs and outputs is established. Then, using an error function, the process input parameters are predicted in such a way that a desired machining quality is obtained. This prediction is performed by minimizing the error function with the help of a Genetic Algorithm.
