Abstract
This article presents a new frequency band notch ultra wideband antenna with compact dimensions. It is shown that with a modified ground plane we can reduce the antenna dimensions without affecting the antenna bandwidth. The overall size of the proposed antenna is 13mm x 22mm. Experimental and simulated results of the fabricated antenna are presented. The antenna impedance bandwidth covers the whole ultra wideband bandwidth from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz except the wireless local area network band. The proposed antenna has an omnidirectional radiation pattern over the desired bandwidth. Also, the antenna has a good performance in time domain.
