In our previous works, 2-apym act as proton acceptor or counter-ion in complexes. Metalic compounds with 2-apym as the only organic ligand, or present as a complementary organic ligand, have been increasingly used. There are many cases in which 2- apym is used as a monodentated or bidentated ligand in complexes. It could be noted that coordination mode of 2-apym depends on nature of anions in metal salts, for example in Cu(II) complexes with halides as anions, mononuclear and polymeric compounds have been obtained in which 2-apym acts as a monodentate or a bidentate ligand. In this contribution, the synthesis of a novel mixed-ligand complex, [Co(2-apym)(pydc)(H2O)2].H2O, (PydcH2: pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), is reported. The characterization was performed using IR, UV spectrometry, CHN elemental analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. In the title compound, Co (II) is six coordinated by tridentate (pydc)2-, unidentate 2-apym and two water molecules. Axial positions in deviated octahedron geometry of Co (II) are occupied by water molecules. H-bond interactions between complexes and also water molecules and complexes lead to 3-D coordination architecture.
