Phosphorus chemistry covers a wide area of sciences, including synthesis, coordination, biomedicine and theoretical matters. In this work, a new amidophosphoric acid ester with formula (C6H5O)2P(O)[NHC6H4(4-CH3)] has been synthesized and characterized by 1H, 13C and 31P{1H} NMR, IR, Raman ,TGA, DTA and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Single crystal X-ray analysis shows that it belongs to triclinic system, space group P-1, with a = 9.7406(10) Å, b = 9.9653(10) Å, c = 11.1788(12) Å, = 96.337(2)°,  = 109.303(2)°,  = 117.827(2)°, Z = 2. The phosphorus atom exhibits a tetrahedral configuration and the nitrogen atoms are essentially planar. In the crystal structure, the hydrogen atom of the NHC6H4(4-CH3) group is involved in an intermolecular PO…HN hydrogen bond to form centrosymmetric dimers.
