Abstract
When the mean free path of the gas and characteristic length of the domain of flow have the same order like phenomenon which is often happen in some Micro-Electro-Mechanical systems (MEMS), fluid is con-sidered as a rarefied gas. Moreover, in large-scale prob-lems with low density the fluid has same behavior, like outer space application. In these situations the continuum assumption is no longer valid for solving stream flow over a flat plate due to having velocity slip over the flat plate. In this study a Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) method with slip velocity boundary condition is employed to solve the laminar slip flow over flat plate. In this investigation the effects of slip boundary condition on skin friction, velocity profile, boundary layer thick-ness and effect of different mesh grid on computational results is studied in details.
