Authors: Mohamad Taghi Imanpour ,Abstract
For some thousands of years Anshan/Parsa, modern Fars wavered between the dominance of two centers of control and influence, lowland Elam, Modern Khuzestan, and Mesopotamia to the west and the great tribal heartland of Iran to north and east. When the highland area were weak and exerted little influence, Anshan was dominated by lowland Elamite culture as well as Mesopotamia; but when they were powerful, highland and lowland Elam came together and enjoyed and existence quite independent from the Mesopotamia. Taking into account the close relationship between lowland Elam in the west and highland Elam in the north and itd impact over the development of Anshan, in this paper I will exmine the development of urbanism in Anshan region focusing on Tall-Malyan. To do so, first the early agricultural village settlements in Anshan region will be introduced and examined. Secondly, The proto-Elamite civilization in Anshan, the early banish phase of Malyan will be disused. Finally, the various phase of Malyan and its development from an agricultural village to a city will be surveyed.
