Title : ( Simulation of the liquid film atomization )
Authors: Mohammad Passandideh-Fard ,Abstract
The atomization of a liquid film is studied using a 3D computational model for the simulation of free-surface flows. The model combines the solution of continuity and momentum equations with an algorithm for free surface tracking. The liquid film is formed by the impact of a liquid jet on a solid plate. The fluid flow mechanism that causes the disintegration of the liquid film into small droplets is explained using the numerical model. The results of the model are validated by a comparison between droplet sizes obtained numerically with those reported experimentally.
