The most complete Cretaceous succession in NE Iran is found in the Kopet-Dagh Basin. The Aitamir Formation is one of the early Cretaceous Formations in the east of Kopet-Dagh. It is composed mainly of lower sandstone and upper shale. Abderaz Formation is one of the Late Cretaceous formations in east Kopet-Dagh Basin, too. This formation overlies the Aitamir Formation and is composed mainly of bluish gray shale and 3 to 4 chalk bands. By using Polarized microscope 14 family, 29 genera and 48 species were recognized. Based on the obtained nannofossils, for this section suggest zonations of CC12, CC16- CC22 (Sissingh, 1977). Therefore the age of this section is suggested Late Turonian to Late Late Campanian.
