Abstract

Effects of inclination angle on natural convection heat transfer and fluid flow in a two dimensional enclosure filled with a non-darcy porous medium has been investigated numerically. Brinkmenn-Forchheimer model is used to simulate the momentum transfer in the porous medium while other models are not adequate when the velocities of the fluid are considerable. Viscous dissipation effects which are normally neglected have been taken into account in the energy equation. The angle of inclination is used as a control parameter for fluid flow and heat transfer and varies from = 0 to = 90 in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. The governing equations are solved with the well-known SIMPLE algorithm for the range of Rayleigh number as 10e4 < Ra < 10e6 and Darcy numbers as 10e-4 < Da < 10e-6. The flow pattern and heat transfer rate in terms of local and average Nusselt number are presented in different cases.
