Abstract
Abstract: Today, greenhouse gas emissions and global warming phenomenon is a worlwide issue. In this research, global warming potential of wheat production in southwest of Iran has been assessed. The rate of greenhouse gas emission i.e. CO2, N2O and CH4, due to the consumption of fossil fuels for agricultural operations, nitrogen fertilizer production and application as the main resources of greenhouse gas emission was studied and determined. The rate of CO2, N2O and CH4 emissions for the production of one ton of wheat were the equivalent of 211, 0.7 and 0.169 kg, respectively. The global warming potential of gas oil consumption, fertilizer production and application were obtained as 73.24, 141.82 and 217 kg CO2-eq, respectively. In fact, the utilization of nitrogen fertilizer has more effect on global warming in agriculture than other inputs under study. In general, the total rate of global warming potential was obtained 432.06 kg CO2-eq for one tone of wheat production in southwest of Iran.
